About Buena Vista Township

Buena Vista Township is a large, predominantly rural municipality in western Atlantic County, New Jersey. Spanning approximately 41 square miles, the township is one of the largest municipalities in Atlantic County by land area and features a landscape of farmland, Pine Barrens forest, and scattered residential communities.

The township includes several distinct communities and localities: Buena, Richland, Newtonville, Milmay, East Vineland, Collings Lakes, New Kuban, Lake Ann, and Buena Acres. Richland serves as the township's primary commercial center, located along Route 40 (Harding Highway) and Route 54.

Buena Vista Township is often confused with the neighboring Borough of Buena, which is a separate incorporated municipality. Buena Borough includes the communities of Landisville and Minotola and separated from Buena Vista Township in 1948. While the two share historical and regional ties, they are legally distinct municipalities with separate municipal governments and boundaries. However, Buena Vista Township and Buena Borough are both served by the Buena Regional School District. Some Buena Vista Township properties use a Buena, NJ 08310 mailing address, but postal addresses do not determine municipal boundaries.

The township is home to a mix of agricultural operations, Pine Barrens landscapes, and residential neighborhoods. It is conveniently located near the Garden State Parkway, Route 40, and Route 54, providing access to Atlantic City, Vineland, and the Philadelphia metro area.
